Wandering the streets of Madrid

Hola!
So the past few days have just been exploring different parts the city. Yesterday we took a little walking tour down La Latina. Which had a cool indoor market, with lots of booths of fruit or fish and ham. Ham is very big here and in most restraunts it's hanging from the walls. gross. Anyway, then we walked to a dome and a church of San Isidro (the saint of madrid). It was so beautiful, they had all these paintings of saints and colors everywhere. There were people in the church saying prayers im guessing, because there was no priest there. Then we had some tapas(appetisers that are very big here) in the area. They were so delicious. My new favorite food is patatas bravadas, potatoes that have these really good sauces on them. We also had some garlic chicken wings and of course bread. Here bread is at every meal, you cant get away from it lol.
Today we went to a museum with the group, Museo de Sorolla. Its a lesser known museum in the city, pretty small. It had these 3 gardens (very small) in front that were just absolutely beautiful. Lots of green everywhere and it was made to bring out your senses, trickeling water and flowery scents. There was a lot of beautiful art in the museum, which was a house. A lot of impressionist art, with lots of beach scenes of his family. Very beautiful. Toledo is on Saturday, cant wait :) Here are some pictures of us having tapas by San Isidro church. Also a picture of my roomies and I at El Retiro Park, a really big park with a lake :)

  1. Oh my gosh the buildings are pretty! And glad to hear you are having lots of tapas :)

I am pretty grossed out about the ham though haha

Also, what are your roommates names? (sorry you might have mentioned that in your last post?? can't remember!)

  2. Brit! Im so glad to hear from you :)
Yes the ham is kind of disgusting lol. The weather has been pretty nice. It was like 65 today. Earlier in the week it was like on and off sprinkling. It's funny though because people still wear all these layers when its warm out! My roomates names are Rozz and Kristen, they are so sweet and we get along so well! How are things back at the apartment? Finding some fun stuff to do since its spring!?

  3. Don't do too much without me! Or maybe scope out cool places and then show me around, especially dance places! I want to dance. See you soon darling, hope your spanish is getting better already, I'm realizing how dreadful it is that I know so little spanish. I think its 10 days and counting :)
