This weekend in Madrid was the Fiesta de San Isidro, who is the patron Saint of Madrid. They have all these festivals for the weekend. Friday night we went down to the river where they had at least a thousand garden pots with flames. The river was lined with them and then there were big spheres of them. On the paths next to the river were moving spheres and other lines of flaming pots. There was also this giants one that would blast out a big flame. They had a band playing that was very slow and calm and these cute little girls kept dancing, like it was their own personal dance recital. It was really pretty, but kind of morbid with so much fire and the music. Also there would never be something like this in the States, so many open flames it was so unsafe, haha.
Last night was a dance event. There was a big band, a dance floor and they were playing clips of old movie dance scenes. Everyone was dancing and then they had an instructor lead us through some salsa and merengue. It was so fun and I felt like a real Madrileno. Anyway, today is just studying for my test that I have tomorrow. Post again soon :)
that looks/sounds so cool!
